There are two main types of cardamom: Green Cardamom and Black Cardamom. The Green Cardamom comes from Southern India and it is the most common variety that usually found in the market. It is one of the most expensive spices. It has a strong, pungent aroma with a hint of lemon. Available in stores in whole pods as well as in powdered form. In Indian cuisine, it is used both in sweet and savoury dishes. It is the main ingredient of Chai Masala.
