  • 250ml of water
  • 2 pieces of ginger about 1cm thick
  • 2-3 green cardamoms
  • 2 teaspoons black tea
  • 200ml of whole milk
  • Two teaspoons of sugar


  • Pour water into a saucepan on medium-high heat.
  • While the water is heated, in a mortar coarsely grind the ginger and cardamoms.
  • Then add them to the hot boiling water.
  • Let the water boil with ginger and cardamom for a few seconds. Then add the black tea and let it boil for another two minutes so that it releases all its colour and flavour.
  • Add milk and sugar. Let the whole thing boil for a minute.
  • Then strain it with a small strainer into a teapot or directly into the cups and serve it with any Indian snacks, cookies, or buns.
